Lorna E. Brown-Burton is an “AV” rated attorney who has practiced law since 1987. Her primary area of practice is Workers’ Compensation Defense. She also has experience in the area of Labor and Employment, Social Security Disability and Foreclosure Defense and practices in the area of Bankruptcy Law. Ms. Brown-Burton owned and operated her own firm for over a decade, and later co-founded Brown-Burton & DeMicco, PLLC. In 2018, she joined Lubell | Rosen as a partner managing the Workers’ Compensation department.
Ms. Brown-Burton’s commitment to giving back is impressive. Early in her career, she was elected President of the Young Lawyers Section of the Broward County Bar Association and served on the Florida Bar Young Lawyers Division Board of Governors. Later, in 2012, she was elected to The Florida Bar Board of Governors as one of the Seventeenth Circuit Representatives. She has been re-elected to that position each subsequent term, including 2021-2023. Ms. Brown-Burton was awarded the President’s Award of Merit, June 2017 by President William “Bill” Schifino.
Ms. Brown-Burton graduated from the University of Florida and Nova Southeastern University Shepard Broad College of Law. She was appointed to her law school’s Board of Governors in 2014 and continues to serve in that role. Because leadership and making a difference is in her DNA, Ms. Brown-Burton is a member of several voluntary bar organizations, including our own. Further, given her achievements, Ms. Brown-Burton was selected by the Broward County Bar Association as one of the 2021 International Women’s Day Broward Pioneer Leader honorees.
